I want to write a bit about a company I started working with as an athlete this year (2019). I first learned about Mountain Hardwear in 1999 at a slide show event in Boulder, Colorado. Big wall climber Mike Libecki spoke that evening about his latest climbing trip to Baffin Island, Canada and how that experience affected him and the equipment he used to accomplish it.

At 19 years old, I was inspired and knew it would fit with the path I was already pursuing. Not only by the boldness of Libecki going to climb massive new routes alone, but also by a relatively new company creating gear that would hold up to the winds and frigidity of the Arctic. A few weeks later I picked up my first Mountain Hardwear Trango Tent. Today, 20 years later, that tent is still performing. Mountain Hardwear tents and equipment have now kept me alive and pursuing on 69 Himalayan expeditions, Yosemite big walls, massive Alaskan ski traverses, and adventures across the globe.

It goes with out saying that I am proud and beyond thrilled to now be a ski mountaineering and alpinism athlete with Mountain Hardwear. People whom I looked up to and a company I’ve loyally devoted my hard earned money to are now supporting my pursuits in the Himalayas. I look forward to contributing to Mountain Hardwear just as Mike Libecki did and does. Testing equipment in the harshest conditions of the highest mountain range on Earth on my ski mountaineering and alpinism projects. I hope you’ll check out the Mountain Hardwear brand, we are all working hard to test, create and improve the best mountain equipment on Earth. -June 3, 2019 | Leh, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, India | 1624 | 3700m
