May 2019 for me was a month of backcountry ski touring in the Tetons of Wyoming, trail running training in Idaho and preparing for my upcoming Himalaya projects. I logged about 80 hours of focused cardiovascular training on skis, in my trail shoes, and at the gym. I’ve attached a few images and videos that show what the month looked like.
I’d like to thank SCARPA for continuing to support me with we great trail running shoes and alpine touring ski boots. I’m currently using the Scarpa Maestrale RS ski boots for backcountry skiing, ski mountaineering, and mechanized resort and helicopter skiing. I like a boot that does it all and that has the power for skiing. I like to ski fast and turn less after mostly using my own power to climb lines (occasionally helicopters and lifts).
My trail running in May 2019 took me to City of Rocks, Idaho. City of Rocks is known for its world class rock climbing. yet it also has some spectacular trail running. I log a lot of miles so prefer a running shoe with a lot of cushion yet recently I’ve really been loving and gotten along quite well with the SCARPA Spin running shoe. Check it out!h
I’m now back in the Indian Himalayas with plans to ski first descents of 6000m North faces for the month of June 2019. Stay tuned for an update.
